The FAI has published a new development plan which will change the structure of how soccer is played and coached at Skerries Town FC, and all other clubs. Player development and players enjoying football is the core philosophy central to the new ‘Player Development Plan’. This is a document that all concerned, including parents, should read. Changes will begin from season 2015/16 & full implementation in season 2016/17..
It proposes that winning at all costs inhibits player development and can lead to a sense of frustration and failure. As well as encouraging the development of young players the plan also proposes new structures for elite player development. The document contains detail on the recommendations of the Plan and when implementation will commence. A full and comprehensive implementation plan will follow in due course.
