Skerries Town’s u12 A squad got off to a great start in their re-graded NDSL campaign with a hard earned 4-1 victory over a well organised and well drilled Ayrfield team. The match was played in perfect conditions at Town Parks with both sides striving to play good creative football and Skerries going close on several occasions in the first quarter.
The team kept pressing forward and began to impose themselves on the game and got a well deserved goal when Andrew Creegan slotted home after some fine work from midfield.
Skerries kept the tempo up and were rewarded with a second goal by Andrew just before half time.
Ayrfield came out in the second half in determined fashion and some fine running play eventually forced the ball over the line for Ayrfields first.
This minor setback seemed to spur Skerries on which forced a rearguard defensive action by Ayrfield.
With Skerries camped in Ayrfields half for the remainder of the game it seemed only a matter of time before a goal, which duly arrived, after some fine work & a shot by Ross Connell, which was heading into the net only to be helped on by David Kenny, not surprisingly, both claimed the goal.
The final few minutes showed Skerries best creative passing and when the ball landed at Brandon McKenna’s feet he despatch it for a well deserved 4-1 win.
